Later in January 2008, I saw the first screenshot. The first screenshot was a lot like Windows Vista. They just disabled the super bar in the milestone releases unlike the Beta/RC and the RTM Release which was released today. Later, I lost some interest in computers for a few months, and forgot somewhat about Windows 7.

In 2009, I got some interest and requested for Windows 7. I never got the Beta but downloaded the RC. I saw neat features so I wanted to never use Windows Vista again that will get useful. I will use a Windows Vista system with the Windows 7 Upgrade for six months, and then the system will become a server (It will really be this year and I will start a blog for electronics hobbyists but I will use it as my primary PC untill I build one) and I will build a new PC and write a book on how to do it.

You can get Windows 7 in 7 flavors. 4 Upgrades and 3 Fresh-Installs.

Windows Vista’s END is tomorrow!

Lets now get back to the topic. eMail is still used but less than it was used. In 2010, Google will introduce its new service, Google wave which will success Facebook, like Facebook succeed MySpace, which will be easier and can have more applications. eMail is still growing but less than it was earlier. Sometimes, eMail has delayed receiving one.

Yahoo and AOL also are making similar services. They have IM services but IM is not as advanced and IM programs can be easily made.

This is all the information I could get because I had to do something else.

It’s close to the Windows 7 release, and it will be an amazing operating system, or at least I will think.

One problem with Windows Vista is clutter on the taskbar for people who use lots of applications. A more important thing is that Windows Vista is buggy and I got unproductive with Vista.

Desktop sideshows can change the background certain times. This may be useless but remember those books where you flip the pages of a book for an animation, You can render that in Windows 7.

Many devices like Printers and Scanners include software, with control panels but Windows 7 adds features to manage the device itself with device-specific options. What if you have a phone without a camera and Windows gave an option to add images from the phone? You don’t have to be annoyed with it.

You also have a handy menu with devices. This is the root menu.

The new taskbar reduces clutter and also supports jump lists. Sorry for the old name in this because I would have used this for a similar article never published. Accessing an IE tab from the start menu has never been easier.

Dragging Windows to one side of the window never been easier. Without dual-monitors, you can do it. The best experience with this is with 1280 * 700 or higher.

Minimizing all Windows except one is possible with Aero Shake, shake the title bar with your mouse and do it, and to return, shake again. This video is not mine. Thanks to user xiaobi001 for giving the video.

WordPad and Paint also are getting the Ribbon interface from Office 2007, so people still on Office 97-2003 and Windows Vista or older might need a upgrade.

Windows XP mode can run legacy XP applications without Dual-booting, or having to starve on 4GB of RAM. You need Intel VT or AMD VTM. Legacy programmers like me will sure love this feature.
These are features which caught my eye but there are more features. After all Windows 7 is a

1. Press Crtl-Alt-Delete
2. Click on “Lock Workstation” or “Lock This Computer” based on what you see.
3. You’ve locked your PC

To Unlock:

1. Press Crtl-Alt-Delete or Click your Username
2. Type in your Password
3. You’ve unlocked your PC

Windows XP or Vista with Fast User Stwitching

Windows XP’s Fast User stwitching is different.
To Lock:

1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Click on the Log Off button for XP or the Lock for Vista
3. Click on Stwitch Users (XP Only)
4. You’ve locked your PC

To Unlock:

1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Click on your Username and type in the password
3. You’ve unlocked your PC

This layout was out since 1936 but hardly noticed by the typing population. I use the QWERTY keyboard layout at home but funny, Dvorak makes it faster to type, with less strain on hands.
Mr. Longstreth typed 110 words on Dvorak vs 40 on the QWERTY by learning Dvorak in College. If I typed it, I would type by pressing on each key but it will get slower than if I did it on QWERTY untill I get used to the layout.
Even though a few Dvorak Typewriters were made, Mr Dvorak could never go in the insustry to abandon the conventional keyboard.

1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Click on Run (Skip for Vista)
3. Type in “regedit”
4. Find the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics” and click on it
5. Right Click in an open space and Select New and then click on String Value
6. Name it “MinWidth” and set the value to -255
7. Exit the Registry Editor and restart your system.

You don’t need to wait till October 22, 2009 to get it, only a restart to see it. Also, you will see your productivity go up. You can’t pin applications but you can still use quick launch for a more Windows 7 like taskbar. To add applications to the Quick Launch, Go to that application in the start menu, right click on it and click on “Add to Quick Launch.”
