Make a Windows 7 like icon only taskbar in Windows XP or Vista

If you are a big Multi Tasker and you can’t afford Windows 7, you can still get a Windows 7 like taskbar without any software, only the Registry.

1. Click on the Start Menu
2. Click on Run (Skip for Vista)
3. Type in “regedit”
4. Find the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics” and click on it
5. Right Click in an open space and Select New and then click on String Value
6. Name it “MinWidth” and set the value to -255
7. Exit the Registry Editor and restart your system.

You don’t need to wait till October 22, 2009 to get it, only a restart to see it. Also, you will see your productivity go up. You can’t pin applications but you can still use quick launch for a more Windows 7 like taskbar. To add applications to the Quick Launch, Go to that application in the start menu, right click on it and click on “Add to Quick Launch.”
